It was some years ago. Escaping from the cold.
We were escaping from the cold and found a place.
Years ago. Not far from home. Our shelter under the sun.
Years ago. The first Christmas seasons together.
We promised each other we would return. Every December. To the same place.
Well. Time went by. This was years ago.
We return today. We return together. Under the same sun. To the same place.
Where?
Where is it that they build sand mangers when the rest of the world builds ice mangers?
Where do they sunbathe in the midst of December while in other places in Europe streets are all covered in snow?
Where is this place where Christmas blends with beach-time as if this were the most natural thing? Which place is that where summer stretches till the end of the year?
Where is that island on which divers, windsurfing enthusiasts, surfers, deep-sea fisherpeople, mountain cyclists, and opera buffs gather on the edge of the sea? Why are so many people there having fun in their swimming attire? Should they not be by the heater? And you say they sunbathe in December? Just out of curiosity… can you tell me where?
And why are so many people determined to make the best out of the last weeks of the year travel there to relax and care for their well-being? What is this sudden urge to be well? Why this interest in spending one’s holidays not thinking about anything?
And, on top of it, you say they aim at having fun in December as if they were in the midst of summer?
I do not understand … Where are these two cycling, on T-shirts, as if it were the middle of August? In the heart of the woods? Did they not say they were on the beach? Just a minute ago they phoned from the hotel’s swimming pool, right by the sea … Can this island also have woods and a large biosphere reserve? Oh, come on! ….
Why do so many sports freaks run there to spend the last days of the year? Would they not be better off in peace and quiet, without doing anything? I do not understand that rush some people experience to do different things. Do they not have a TV set at home?
And these children? Why so much laughter? Why do they hop around so happily on a huge beach, among dunes and more dunes? Where is that beach? And that lighthouse? Where have I seen that lighthouse?...
But where? Where is that island? Where do they hide that place with fine weather in December, January, March, and August?
If I only knew, if for a moment I thought I knew the spot, I could participate in the raffle organized by Gran Canaria’s Newsletter, and thus have a chance to enjoy free talassotherapy at the Gloria Palace San Agustín Thalasso & Hotel.
Want to participate?
You only need to be subscribed to our newsletter. Nothing else. Just think out loud the name of the island blessed with fine weather all year round.
Each month, the raffle is made by a team with an office located under a palm tree, in the middle of a beach. When they decide there’s been enough swimming, surfing, and sunbathing, then, and only then, do they pick a winner.
Are you not aware yet of the benefits of talassotherapy?
Visit the Talasoterapia Canarias website and find out why so many people leave stress behind through seawater treatments. Come and enjoy one of the oldest anti-stress treatments in the world.
